Reliability Centered Design (RCD) is a risk-based methodology for preparing your people and your assets for operational readiness – in its core RCD is founded on the robust principles of RCM and extends reliability thinking to include upper management’s objectives early on in the design process. RCD supports ISO 55000 and the elements of life-cycle asset management and creates the foundation for establishing inherent reliability and continuous improvement. It does so by involving all the stakeholders and through simulation and optimization of the design. Our experience show that RCD does not only save on CAPEX through optimizing the design and reducing Change Orders during the construction and commissioning phases but continuously provides savings during operations and maintenance of the plant also (OPEX). Reliability Centered Spares (RCS) is an extension to the RCM process. Through evaluation of the consequences of a stock-out effect (similar to the evaluation of the failure consequences in RCM), stocking policies are optimized to support maintenance and operations at all levels. The RCS process follows a similar approach to RCM and spare part strategies are tied to failure modes. The spare part recommendations are based on the specific Operating Conditions and drawn from the failure management recommendations delivered through the RCM process which includes our fourth-generation maintenance techniques. It is our experience that a well-executed RCS analysis, provides the single most value in the reliability analysis process. Having the necessary information is critical to supporting a reliability improvement process. That’s why Aladon’s RCFA methodology is fully integrated with RCM3. Whether you first decide to embark on a defect elimination / failure analysis or strive to develop failure management strategies, our methodologies are linked at the appropriate level with data that is interchangeable – saving time and resources and eliminating duplication. Structured in a way to provide the continuous improvement feedback, our RCFA process is intuitive and comprehensive, allowing for both formal and informal analyses. The Aladon Condition Assessment process has been developed over many years working with one of our Network Members. The CA process is a risk-based approach not only to determine the current condition of your assets but to provide useful asset management recommendations based on the asset condition. The CA process is fully supported by software that includes a comprehensive library of assets and their attributes for conducting a condition assessment – resulting in the ability to tap into years of experience while saving time and resources. The Condition Assessment process is both qualitative and quantitative and includes field observation, interviews with people who knows the equipment best, performance analysis and data reviews to provide a comprehensive snapshot of your assets.
Together with the Condition Assessment process, Aladon developed a risk-based approach to managing asset life extension based on the asset condition and the user defined requirements. The ALIM process provides information to make critical decisions regarding your assets, such as; remnant or remaining life, replace or refurbish, rerate or redesign, run to failure, obsolescence etc. Tied to the RCM and RCS processes, ALIM provides our customers with important information (scientifically derived) to lower risk and overall cost while increasing the value and utilization.
The FMECA process is integrated into both our RCM and RCD methodologies and when applied during design, facility expansion or optimization projects, it provides the rapid results required to develop more robust asset strategies. The FMECA process is required by some Aladon clients and recommended for others and overall the outcomes of our FMECA process, delivers more value than traditional FMEAs.
